Métodos Especiales: Prensa Francesa

Special Methods: French Press

The French press is one of the most widely used methods for preparing coffee worldwide. It's quick, practical, and easy to make, and the results are spectacular: a consistent and aromatic coffee.

To use it you only need the press, hot water and ground coffee (coarse grind).

It can also be known as a coffee pot or plunger.

Benefits of preparing coffee in a French press

When you prepare your coffee with a French press, you retain the natural oils released by the beans that paper filters usually absorb, extracting the full flavor of the coffee and achieving a thicker, more exquisite consistency.

How to prepare coffee in a French press?

Recommendation: Use coarsely ground coffee and add 2 tablespoons per 180 ml of water.

  1. After adding the two tablespoons of coffee, fill the coffee pot with hot, but not boiling, water. Make sure to soak all the grounds.
  2. Using a spoon, break up the resulting crust and stir slowly. Place the filter lid on the coffee maker without pressing down and wait four minutes for the coffee to brew.
  3. Gently press the filter down to the bottom of the coffee maker, pour, and then enjoy a delicious cup of coffee.
